We recently came together for a charity happy hour and had a wonderful time connecting, shopping local, and learning how to keep our homes safe from wildfires. Thank you to everyone who took part, shared conversation, and showed support for Fire Adapted Bailey—we truly appreciate your commitment to our mountain community!
Our first stop was at Black Fox Provisions, owned by Julie Van Wagenen. She welcomed us with open arms and shared the intentional story behind her shop. The shelves were filled with fresh sourdough bread, organically grown produce, sustainable kitchen supplies, thoughtful gifts, and even some nostalgic vintage thermoses that caught everyone’s eye!
We loved seeing products made by Mountain Women in Business members right there in the store, and a few folks even spotted potential new opportunities to get their own items on the shelves. It’s always exciting to see local entrepreneurs supporting one another and finding creative ways to work together.
After exploring Black Fox Provisions, we crossed the street to Revival Brews. Their staff welcomed us like old friends, and the group had a blast sampling craft cocktails, beer, mocktails, and delicious food. It’s always a treat to find a great local spot that goes above and beyond, and Revival Brews certainly delivered.
A highlight of the evening was hearing from Robin Davis of Fire Adapted Bailey, who educated us on practical steps we can take to harden our homes and prepare for a fire evacuation. Fire Adapted Bailey offers wonderful workshops and will soon have online classes available, so be sure to check their website for more details. You can also get involved through volunteering or by making a donation to support their important mission.
Robin introduced us to the Got 5 Program, a program that connects community members who may need assistance during evacuations with nearby volunteers who can help. She also discussed ways to contribute and donate—learn more at Fire Adapted Bailey’s donation page.
For those looking to stay informed on-the-go, there were a few recommended apps you can download on your phone:
These apps can help you track fire activity in real-time and prepare for emergencies.
A huge thank you to both Julie Van Wagenen of Black Fox Provisions and the wonderful staff at Revival Brews for hosting us. Your hospitality truly made this event special. We also extend our gratitude to Robin Davis for sharing her expertise and reminding us how we can all do our part in keeping our mountain community safe.
